Changdeokgung is a major palace complex in central Seoul. Plan it as a timed part of a Jongno itinerary, and distinguish general palace admission from any limited or guided garden program shown by the official operator.

Check the official schedule first

Opening times vary by season, and regular closing days or holiday arrangements can change. The Royal Palaces and Tombs Center publishes the operating table and special-program times; use that page as the final source on the day you plan.

Palace grounds and the garden are different decisions

Do not assume every ticket or entry method includes every area. Check whether the route you want requires a separate reservation, a timed entry or a guided visit. If a particular program matters, secure the current official information before arranging the rest of the day.

Allow time for walking

The complex is better approached as a substantial visit than a quick photo stop. Consider weather, walking surfaces and the time needed to reach the entrance from your accommodation. Pairing it with one nearby area can produce a calmer itinerary than adding several distant districts.

Where to stay

Jongno is the natural area comparison for a palace-led visit. A guesthouse in another district can still work, but compare the complete morning journey and the return route.
